Shahrizat Wants "Out Reach" Programme In Sabah Upgraded

TAWAU, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil wants the "Out Reach" programme in Sabah upgraded so that more people in remote areas will receive aid.

She said this was necessary as there were many Sabahans out there who did not receive aid as the information did not reach the government.

"We need more manpower to cover the vast areas of Sabah. Community leaders can help by informing the Welfare Services Department of those who fall within the target group.

"We are not a welfare state. Those who quality for aid come under several categories," she said after launching a smart partnership programme here Monday.

Shahrizat assured that the 40,000 Sabahans who qualified for aid from the Welfare Services Department would receive them monthly starting Jan 1, 2010.
