| Indemnity Forms To Be Retained: Perak Education Department |

IPOH, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Perak State Education Department has said that it will continue to use the words 'any risk or problem is not the responsibility of the school or the department' on forms seeking permission from parents for their children to participate in programmes organised by the department or the school.
The department's deputy director, Mohd Roli Hassan, said the matter was subject to department rules and could not be changed or modified due to several problems that cropped up recently.
"All statements in the parents' permission form that state 'any risk or problem is not the responsibility of the school or the department' have been used from early on and will not be changed.
"We just issue letters to parents whether they give permission or not for their children to attend programmes run by schools or the ministry," he told reporters after launching the state-level 1Malaysia Reading Camp at Sekolah Kebangsaan Rapat Setia here Tuesday.
He said if parents did not allow their children to attend programmes, schools could not force them to do so.
Mohd Roli said if parents had confidence in schools that their children attend attend programmes then the responsibility is a joint one.
"It is not possible to change the said statement as we follow the existing 'Standard Operating Procedure'," he said.
He said the 1Malaysia camps will continue to be held as stated by the government and all activities planned followed regulations by the ministry, especially on safety.
"For example, the students attending the camp today had permission from their parents and everything is based on the confidence of their parents," he said.
