| Nanny Hires Out Baby To Beggars For 100 Rupees |

NEW DELHI, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- A canny nanny who wanted to earn some extra money hired out her employer's seven-month-old baby to beggars for 100 rupees (RM7.40) a day.
While the unsuspecting middle-class young parents from Bangalore happily went off to work, leaving the infant under the care of the nanny, the beggars would take the child for begging on the streets.
The Asian Age reported that the nanny's crafty modus operandi was exposed when the baby's mother, Anamika Joshi, returned home early from work one day and found her son missing and the nanny watching television.
When confronted by the parents the nanny confessed that she had been hiring out the baby daily for the past three weeks.
"What my baby was put through sends shivers down my spine. I can't imagine what would have happened if I had not returned home early that day," Anamika was quoted as saying by the paper.
The beggar's syndicate had put the baby through horrifying times -- the child was fed with oral sedatives and dressed with rags. Yet, the parents did not suspect any foul play, reported the paper.
Lately, the parents also found the baby drowsy and even took him for a medical check up.
"We took him to a doctor, who surprisingly did not find anything wrong with the child. We later learned that our baby was given oral sedatives by the beggars," added Anamika.
The nanny, hired through a recruitment agency, was sacked immediately but the family did not lodge a police complaint.
