| Flood Situation Worsens, Over 1,000 Evacuated |

KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The flood situation in Terengganu worsened this evening, forcing the evacuation of 1,035 people to relief centres.
Over 500 victims from Besut, 478 (Hulu Terengganu) and 50 (Dungun) were evacuated to a community hall, school, mosque, surau and homes of relatives.
The victims, from 260 families, were evacuated from as early as 3pm.
A state flood operations centre spokesman told Bernama that several main roads were closed to heavy vehicles as they were inundated by between one and 1.5 metre of flood watres.
The roads included the 13km and 17km stretches of Jalan Kuala Berang-Sungai Tong, and the 8km stretch of Jalan Kuala Berang Telemong in Kampung Bukit Tadok.
Meanwhile, a state irrigation and drainage department spokesman said that four rivers were reported to be at danger level.
They are Sungai Besut, Sungai Setiu, Sungai Terengganu and Sungai Berang.
Meanwhile, a Terengganu National Security Council spokesman told Bernama that 327 relief centres were set up statewide, with Besut having the highest number at 87, followed by Hulu Terengganu (73), Dungun (52), Kemaman (33), Setiu (31), Kuala Terengganu (27) and Marang (24).
He said the relief centres could accommodate up to 48,039 flood evacuees, adding that 386 boats were on stand-by for rescue operations.
