20MW Generator In Tawau To Begin Operation In December

TAWAU, 6 Nov (Bernama) -- Disruption in electricity supply in Tawau is expected to be overcome when a 20MW generator, which is being installed here, begins operation on Dec 24, Sabah Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said Friday.

He said besides in Tawau, two similar generators were installed in Sandakan.

He told this to reporters at the site where installation work of the generator was in progress here.

Earlier, Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) head of operation Abdul Razak Salim, when briefing Tawfiq on the project, said SESB was capable of generating 87MW energy daily, including 36MW provided by an Independent Power Producer (IPP).

He said Tawau required about 72MW energy daily.
