| Norman-Memey Khalwat Case: Court Told Testimony By Witness Not True |

KUALA LUMPUR, 6 Nov (Bernama) -- The Gombak Timur Syariah Court, which is hearing the khalwat case involving actor Norman Hakim and actress Memey Suhaiza, was given a another version of how the couple was arrested by the Selangor Islamic Religious De--partment (JAIS).
Gombak Barat religious enforcement officer Kyrool Nizam Khairuddin said the testimony by Abdul Rahman Lai Abdullah, an enforcement officer with the Selangor Islamic Religious De--partment (JAIS), who was the first prosecution witness, was not true and conflicting.
Kyrool Nizam said he arrived at the scene at 2.15am and then went up to the upper floor of the premises where the couple was arrested with Abdul Rahman Lai Abdullah, an enforcement officer with the Selangor Islamic Religious De--partment (JAIS).
However, according to Abdul Rahman, who testified on July 4, that he, as the head of the operation, divided the accompanying officers into two groups, one group went to the upper floor while he remained downstairs.
Questioned by defence counsel Fakhrul Abu Hassan, who represented the couple, Kyrool Nizam agreed when put to him that the testimony by Abdul Rahman was not true and conflicting.
On Jan 20 last year, Norman, whose real name is Mohamed Norhakim Zaidon, 33, pleaded not guilty to committing khalwat with Memey, whose real name is Suhaiza Suhaimi, 21, in an office at 41A, Jalan UP 1/2 Taman Ukay Perdana, Hulu Klang, at 3am on Oct 30, 2008.
If convicted, they can each be jailed up to two years or fined RM3,000.
Hearing before judge Salehudin Yatim continues on Dec 4.
