| Sarawak Media Must Play Major Role In Promoting SCORE |

KUCHING, Nov 7 (Bernama) - The Sarawak state government needs the full participation of the media in the dissemination of accurate information to all parties, particularly in promoting the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan said SCORE is needed for Sarawak to leapfrog into the next century as an economic and developed state on par with the development of neighbouring countries.
"For the SCORE to be developed and be a success, media need to disseminate accurate information to the people and also the potential investors.
"Tell the truth. You must be open, transparent and must have the courage to reveal the truth. We will not blame you (media) for putting up the truth although it is unpleasant, as we need constructive criticism to improve," he said at the Kenyalang Shell Press Awards 2009 here Friday night.
Dr Chan said he hoped the press awards would continue to motivate and inspire both print and broadcast journalists in Sarawak to strive for the highest standards of excellence in their duties as disseminator of information and knowledge to society.
