KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- The prime minister's wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has called on members of the Girl Guides to embrace the 1Malaysia concept and to remain true to the movement's discipline and value system.
She said that discipline would instill self-reliance among the younger generation, in particular among members of the movement.
"Movements such as the Scout, Red Crescent and Girl Guides have their own value systems and in applying these values, the basic issue that needs to be stressed is discipline," she said at her inauguration as the Girl Guides Association of Malaysia president here Saturday.
Rosmah also launched the Girl Guides' 1Malaysia logo.
On 1Malaysia, Rosmah said, Girl Guides members should uphold the concept as it could also instill discipline among them.
Discipline, she said, should be understood and internalised by the younger generation as it was an important aspect in their quest for success.
She also praised the multiracial nature of the Girl Guides' membership, saying it showed that the movement had been practising the 1Malaysia concept all along.
"I'm confident that the prime minister will be equally proud of this spirit of unity which is prevalent in this association.
"Let us together prove that the 1Malaysia concept is a pillar in the membership principles of the Girl Guides," she said.
