Penang Confident Of Making M-League Next Season
PENANG, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- The Football Association of Penang (FAP) has assured that the state team will participate in the Malaysian League next season as the financial problem is being sorted out.
FAP president Datuk Seri Zahrain Hashim said he met Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) general secretary Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad yesterday to explain the situation.
"FAM has given us one week to sort out the problem. We have already settled the wages of three players amounting RM45,000.
"The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) has allowed us to settle the subscription in installments," he told a press conference here Friday.
Zahrain regretted that FAM had made the issue public before discussing with the team management as it led to negative perception among supporters and sponsors.
Penang were among six teams barred from next season's M-League for failing to make EPF subscriptions and pay players wages.
The others were Kelantan, Perak, Melaka, Pahang and Shahzan Muda.
