NEGERI SEMBILAN GOVERNMENT FOCUSING ON INDUSTRIES, JOBS IN MVV

19/09/2018 07:14 PM

SEREMBAN, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan state government is currently focusing on growing job opportunities and industries in the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) development, says Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun.

He said although the state government previously prioritised housing projects and the Kuala Lumpur-Singapre High-Speed Rail project as growth catalysts for the MVV, the priority has since changed towards investments and industrialisation.

“We are certain this step (the change in focus) will give impetus to create opportunities and jobs for local youths and also help ensure other (development) projects are properly implemented.

“We (the state government) feel that job creation is more important as this would be inline with the people’s desire for the MVV where their lives would be affected (positively) by the investments flowing into the state,” Aminuddin told reporters after chairing the state’s exco meeting today.

He said the shift in focus was due to the number of enquiries and interest shown towards industrial projects in MVV.

“We are waiting, for confirmation, on RM2 billion worth of investments from Foshan, China, to build four or five factories in MVV’s industrial zones.

“The state government has been invited to sign a memorandum of understanding in China by year-end,” Aminuddin added.

The MVV, a world-class metropolis project, is expected to attract investments worth over RM290 billion and offer over 1.38 million job opportunities by 2045.

Covering 153,000 hectares in Negri Sembilan, it would be divided into five strategic clusters covering the  Central Business District, Nature City, Edu-Tech Valley, Tourism and Wellness and New Liveable Township.

The 30-year MVV development will implement eight main projects known as the heartbeat projects namely the High Tech Park & Industrial Campus, Integrated Transport District, Sports & Recreational City, World Knowledge City, Biopolis & Wellness City and Tourism District.
