MERCEDES-BENZ MALAYSIA SET FOR ANOTHER YEAR OF RECORD SALES

08/10/2018 03:44 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd is on track to exceed last year's all-time high sales of 12,045 luxury vehicles, having delivered 10,143 premium cars in the first nine months of 2018.

Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Mark Raine, said the year-to-date figure was a 16 per cent increase over sales in the same period last year and represented a market share of 2.5 per cent -- an improvement of 0.2 percentage point year-on-year.

According to him, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia's sales will be fortified further with six new premium Mercedes-Benz models slated to be launched by year-end, including three high-performance sport utility vehicles (SUVs), one compact car, one limousine and a Dream Car.

“We are on track for another record year in 2018 and are very confident of surpassing last year’s sales with the new line-up,” he said during a media briefing on Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s third quarter (Q3) 2018 performance here today.

At the event, the company also unveiled the E53 Coupe (Dream Car Collection) as well as E53 Limousine for the Malaysian market and announced that a new A-Class would be unmasked on Oct 18.

“We are pleased to bring a diverse lifestyle experience to our customers with the launch of the Dream Cars Collection for 2018 and introduction of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousines,” said Raine.

So far this year, the company’s locally-produced limousines, namely the Mercedes-Benz C-, E-, and S-Class, have collectively recorded a total of 6,344 units sold.

For its range of premium compact cars, comprising the Mercedes-Benz A-Class, B-Class, GLA-Class and CLA-Class, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia chalked up sales of 1,268 units.

“These two segments (limousines and compact cars) recorded increases of 21.1 per cent and four per cent, respectively, compared with Q3 of last year,” said Raine.

The premium SUV range by Mercedes-Benz remained a growth driver, recording 1,960 units sold which translated into a 3.4 per cent increase over Q3 2017.

He said the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars collection also recorded a notable achievement with 570 units sold, marking a 40 per cent jump versus Q3 2017.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has also launched the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class limousine, along with the S-Class cabriolet, S-Class Coupe and Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, in Q3 2018.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, established more than 15 years ago, has invested RM1.8 billion in the country to-date.
