KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- An art collective, interdisciplinary group of ultratechnologists, teamLab is celebrating the first year anniversary of its two museums in Tokyo, which saw a combined 3.5 million visitors, one of which is the world’s most visited single-artist museum.

The museums are MORI Building DIGITAL ART MUSEUM: teamLab Borderless in Odaiba, and the teamLab Planets TOKYO in Toyosu, according to a statement.

teamLab Borderless is a world of ever-changing artworks without boundaries, a ‘museum without a map’. Since opening in June 2018, the museum has seen approximately 2.3 million visitors from over 160 countries and regions worldwide.

On the other hand, teamLab Planets is ‘a museum where you move through water’. Guests walk barefoot in the space and physically immerse their entire bodies in massive artworks. Opened in July 2018, the museum has welcomed over 1.25 million visitors from 106 countries and regions.

Compared to the world’s three most visited single-artist museums of 2018, both teamLab Borderless and teamLab Planets have welcomed more visitors than the Picasso Museum in Barcelona, and the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, both in Spain.

The number of museum attendees at teamLab Borderless exceeds even those of the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
