DIGI DELIVERS 0.9 PCT Q-O-Q SERVICE REVENUE GROWTH IN Q3

18/10/2019 04:02 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 18 -- Digi.com Bhd’s (Digi) service revenue recorded stronger quarter-on-quarter (q-o-q) performance in the third quarter (Q3) ended Sept 30, 2019, growing 0.9 per cent to RM1.46 billion from RM1.5 billion in the previous quarter.

In a statement today, Digi said this was underpinned by solid postpaid revenue growth, improved prepaid Internet trajectory and profitable operations although intense competition in the postpaid entry level and prepaid segments continued.

Its earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) for Q3 traced to RM725 million or 46 per cent, while profit after tax moderated to RM362 million, after accounting for fluctuations on non-recurring cost effects although underlying growth trajectory improved sequentially.

“The company’s performance in the quarter reflects its persistent drive to deliver quality network experience, and more Internet access options on mobile, in the home and on WiFi, across more customer segments,” Digi said.

It said Digi’s network now connects 11.3 million customers in populated areas nationwide with a footprint of 4G long-term evolution (LTE): 90 per cent, LTE-A: 70 per cent coverage and 9,200 km of fibre network.

These strategic investments to expand network capacity and coverage have activated data growth opportunities for the quarter, it added.

Digi chief executive officer Albern Murty said the company has stayed focused on delivering its strategy during the quarter under review, and has seen the efforts connect more Malaysians on Digi’s services.

“We will be persistent in providing affordable, widespread connectivity to more people and businesses while we run our business efficiently.

“Staying focused on introducing innovative products to market and making inroads into the B2B (business-to-business) segment as part of our long-term growth,” he said.

Digi has declared third interim dividend per share of 4.5 sen or RM350 million, payable to shareholders on Dec 19, 2019.

At 3.05 pm, Digi fell seven sen to RM4.67 with 2.10 million shares traded.
