KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) -- Our lives are very uncertain. The thing that I worry most about is the uncertainty whether I can still undergo the treatment to prolong my life?

"I choose to treat every day as a bonus because I have a dream. I would like to achieve my dream which is to see my children succeed in their life," said a stage-four breast cancer survivor, Chang Chu San.

Diagnosed with the disease, also known as Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC), about three years ago, Chang, 55, has not given up.

She was at the official launch of Pink InspirerS, Malaysia's first ever patient-led support group focusing on MBC, in Bangsar, recently. The launch was initiated by Pfizer Malaysia and Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA).

MBC, sometimes referred to as advanced breast cancer, occurs when breast cancer spreads beyond the breast to other parts of the body. It usually includes the lungs, liver, bones or brain.

More than 30 percent of women who have had early stage breast cancer will develop MBC later despite the right treatment and preventive measures.....
