KUALA LUMPUR, March 9 (Bernama) -- Entrepreneurial icons who have been successful in carving a name in the country are asked to help realise the government's desire to create entrepreneurs by becoming mentors to the group.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said, at the same time, new entrepreneurs also should be brave to venture out from the conventional business cocoon and venture into new fields in line with Revolution 4.0.

"The young generation should dare to venture into new areas and ready to face the Revolution 4.0 in the next two or three decades, the world will continue to change, the business (concept) will also continue to change," he said when launching The ONE Awards (Malaysia Outstanding National Entrepreneurs Awards) here tonight.

He said the injections of motivation from successful entrepreneurs, especially those with many followers, were able to strengthen the spirit of young people interested in entrepreneurship venturing into the field.

"The government also provides many opportunities and assistance through infrastructure and initiatives for more to venture into entrepreneurship, in line with the National Transformation 2050 (TN50) aspiration, we have also set new benchmarks to become a developed country with many entrepreneurs," he added.

The ONE Awards can be regarded as the 'oscars' of the world of entreprenuers in Malaysia, starting this year in recognition of leading entrepreneurs and, at the same time, supporting the creation of more entrepreneurs who are successful and innovative.

A total of 80 entrepreneurs received the awards tonight, including three special award recipients, namely Sapura Energy Berhad chief executive officer Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin, Malaysia Hard Rock chairman Tan Sri Syed Mohd Yusof Syed Nasir and Aladdin Group founder Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Mashrie.
