GEORGE TOWN, April 16 (Bernama) -- The Penang Citizens Awareness Chant Group today lauded the pledges of the Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) which places the environmental issue as their top priority if given the mandate to rule the state after the 14th general election (GE14).
The group's advisor, Yan Lee said it was crucial that the BN manifesto has highlighted the environmental issue as there were too many problems happening in the state due to unrestricted development.
He said developments that were not planned especially those on hill slopes would be hazardous to the people in the state.
"We really support the pledge in the BN manifesto which says that any hill side development exceeding 76.2 metres (250 feet) from sea level will be stopped immediately," he told Bernama when contacted here today.
He said the state government was supposed to enforce this stand but some hill development projects had been approved.....
