Use of state's name, coat of arms requires approval - Melaka CM

MELAKA, April 17 (Bernama) -- Event organisers or other third parties in Melaka intending to use the state’s name or coat of arms must obtain prior approval from the state government, Chief Minister Adly Zahari said today.
He said the move was aimed at controlling the implementation of programmes in the state, especially those organised by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and private agencies, to prevent confusion among the public.
"For example, if they implement programmes in Melaka using the state’s coat of arms, the community would assume that the programme is being organised by the state government, thus causing misunderstandings.
"Therefore, we have instructed them (organisations) to get approval through the State Secretary, so that we are aware of the programme to be held," he said during a press conference at the Melaka State Government Council here, today.
He said any party found using the coat of arms without permission would face action.
