JBPM Sarawak receives 2,798 calls as at April 16

KUCHING, April 18 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) had up to Monday (April 16), received 2,798 emergency calls said state JBPM director Khirudin Drahman.

He said of the total, 1,004 or 36 per cent of calls involved fires, 1,697 (36%) calls for rescue operations and 88 (3%) calls for special tasks.

"Based on the statistics for calls involving fire cases, Miri recorded the highest number of calls with 412 cases followed by Kuching (164 cases) and Sibu (154 Cases).

"The total losses recorded stood at RM11,216,411.51 and the total value of property saved was RM97,088,717.89," he said in a statement here Wednesday.
