KUALA LUMPUR, May 17 (Bernama) – Malaysian touring car racer, Mitchell Cheah is now determined to improve his outing at the upcoming legs of the ADAC TCR Germany Touring Car Championship.

The 21-year-old racer, who failed to his first race of the opening leg at the Motorsport Arena, Oschersleben, Germany due to technical issues, last month, bounced back at the second round.

The VW Team Oettinger driver, Mitchell, finished 10th among 18 participants in the Round 2 after completing 20 laps in the 3.67km circuit in 32 minutes and 44.468 seconds.

Driving Volkswagen Golf GTI, Mitchell, who is the first Asian driver to compete at the prestigious championship, is now preparing for the second leg of the championship to be held at Most, the Czech Republic this weekend.

“I would like to thank the technical crew who were working hard to make sure that the car was in top condition after having some problems in Race 1. In Race 2, I managed to finish the race in the 10th place,” said the Sepang International Circuit’s Driver Development Programme

“Everything went according to plan at the beginning, but I was not able to maintain the speed and the momentum of the car in the middle of the race including a collision on my rear bumper in the final lap which affected my position as well,” he said in a statement.
