PONTIAN, July 20 (Bernama) – On the first day of the 22nd Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) 2019 today, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, launched an over 100-page book of the same name chronicling memories of the annual tour of the state by the royal family to see the rakyat.

By his side for the launch at Dataran Majlis Daerah Pontian was Permaisuri Johor Raja Zarith Sofiah Sultan Idris Shah.

The book, priced at RM150 and available from today at all the planned pit stops of KMJ 2019, chronicles the tour from 2001-2018 and contains information on Johor’s fascinating culture, games, food, crafts and traditional clothes.

Earlier, the Johor ruler departed from Istana Pasir Pelangi, Johor Bahru (59km away) at 8am astride his Harley-Davidson 2019 Road King Special Touring Bike accompanied by a convoy that included his sons, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar.

The Johor family’s three-day road trip will see them travelling 686km through 10 districts. On the route, Sultan Ibrahim will also ride a kapcai or small motorcycle.

From Pontian, the convoy will proceed to Batu Pahat and Tangkak before ending the 240km journey in Muar.

On day two, the convoy will set off from Istana Muar to Segamat, Kluang and Mersing, and on day three, it will head to Kota Tinggi, Padang Awam Kulai and Melita Premium Fresh Pineapple, Ulu Tebrau before concluding KMJ 2019 at Istana Pasir Pelangi.

The KMJ is one of the most anticipated events of the year for the rakyat because it is when they can meet the entire royal family.

Throughout KMJ 2019, Sultan Ibrahim will be joining the rakyat in cooking demonstrations, sports activities and visiting exhibitions, while at the same time giving out aid.
