KUANTAN, July 21 (Bernama) -- The ‘Tok Gajah’ regained their magical touch when they defeated Melaka United 4-1 on home turf at the Darul Makmur Stadium, last night, which made their head coach Dollah Salleh relieved with the team’s performance just before the Malaysia Cup begins.
"The two wins, today (last night) and in the previous match, gave us a good recap of the Super League season and players get their touch back. I hope Pahang can sustain this performance and if that happens, our target to win the Malaysian Cup can be achieved," he told a news conference after the match.
Dollah also acknowledged that their Namibian striker, Lazarus Kaimbi had proven his true ability by producing two goals in the last two matches.
"We’ll continue to motivate him and now he is working hard...we hope that he will maintain his performance as well as for Dickson Nwakaeme's recovery to help Pahang achieve the target to become the Malaysia Cup champions," he said.
Meanwhile, Melaka United head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan said the two early goals by the hosts impacted deterred his squad causing them to make a lot of mistakes before regaining their composure in the second half.
He said they then tidier and tried to create chances to score, but Pahang were good in their counter-attacks.
