SHAH ALAM, July 21 (Bernama) -- Selangor head coach B. Sathianathan praised the fighting spirit shown by the 'The Red Giants' when they outclassed their ‘younger brother’, PKNS FC, 3-2 in their last Super League match at the Shah Alam Stadium, last night.
He said his line-up showed excellent performance although without some of the key players who were on the croc list.
"We managed to control the game with two goals from set-pieces, but actually we could have produced more than three goals. After leading the match 3-1, the players seemed to have slacked off a little. However, it was a really good performance,” he told the post-match press conference.
Sathianathan noted that his players had worked hard and gave their best performance to be in the top four of the Super League standings this season.
As for PKNS FC head coach, Datuk K. Rajagobal admitted that the defeat was due to careless mistakes by the defence, thus giving Selangor the opportunity to increase the scoring gap.
"We managed to score the first goal in the early minutes of the game, but we conceded two goals due to carelessness and we once again conceded in the second half. We tried to make some attacks and eventually got the second goal, but it was too late," said Rajagobal.
