MTDC KICKS OFF INTERNATIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME FOR POLICY MAKERS

KUALA LUMPUR, July 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) today kicked off an international training programme for policy-makers to share its development experiences, knowledge and know-how with other developing countries.

Its CEO Office director Dr Zainul Fadziruddin Zainuddin said the five-day Malaysian Technical Corporation Programme (MTCP)-MTDC Commercialisation Ecosystem and Entrepreneurship Development Workshop was MTDC effort to assist the participating developing countries with their development.

“Malaysia, through MTCP, remains committed to South-South Cooperation which is an important element of international cooperation for development that offers viable opportunities for developing countries in their individual and collective pursuit of sustained economic growth and to raise their level of development,” he said in a statement today.

The workshop, scheduled from July 22 to 26, had attracted 16 policy-makers from Uzbekistan, Thailand, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Mauritius, Albania, Samoa Island, Nigeria, Bhutan, Philippines, Egypt and Vietnam. 

Topics to be discussed in the workshop included policies and frameworks related to the commercialisation process, market validation, legal and intellectual property (IP) commercialisation, funding, business modelling, universities collaboration and incubation.

MTDC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd and has been the key player in commercialisation and management of government funding since the Seventh Malaysia Plan 1996-2000.
