Mum seeks donations for cancer-stricken child

KUBANG PASU, Sept 21 (Bernama) -- A housewife is seeking donations from the public to ease her financial burden and in continuing treatment for her three-year-old son, diagnosed with neuroblastoma (a type of cancer that affects the nerve tissues).

Nor Asnah Asmo, 36, said since learning about Muhammad Muazzudin Mohd Hayat’s stage four cancer in April, much of her time had been spent caring for her son.

Her husband, Mohd Hayat Mohd Abdullah, 36, who works as a bus driver in Kuala Lumpur earning RM1,500 a month, had to take unpaid leave since May as he had to help out in taking their son to the Penang Hospital (HPP) and Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB) in Alor Setar.

With the loss in income and with four other children aged between four and 12 to care for, they have been living on the charity of friends and family, she said.

Nor Asnah said Muhammad Muazzudin who was now paralysed from the waist and below, needed between RM200 and RM300 for his treatment and other expenses.

Meanwhile, her son’s condition caught the attention of the Malaysian Cancer Survivors founder Zuraini Kamal, who visited the boy at home and donated essential food items, disposable diapers, milk and cash.

Nor Asnah said while the family had only recently received a RM2,500 Zakat donation, she was also appealing for donations from corporations.

Those wishing to donate can call her at 017-3856338 or Mohd Hayat at 017-3089673. They can also bank in their contributions to Nor Asnah’s Maybank account at: 164061742144.
