15 agricultural drainage projects to be implemented in Tanjung Piai

PONTIAN, Oct 8 -- The state government will implement 15 agricultural drainage projects in the Tanjung Piai Parliamentary constituency here as part of efforts to improve the agricultural infrastructure in the area.
State Islamic Affairs, Agriculture and Rural Development Committee chairman Tosrin Jarvanthi said the projects would include works to repair roads in plantation areas and maintenance of drainage system.
“The project under the state Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) involves a total cost of RM448,000,” he told reporters after observing an agricultural drainage project in Kampung Ayer Masin, near Kukup here today.
Present was state JPS director Ir Che Mohd Dahan Che Jusof.
Tosrin, who is also Bukit Permai assemblyman said all the 15 projects were expected to be completed by Dec 15.
According to him, each year the state government would provide an allocation for JPS to carry out maintenance works on the agricultural drainage system statewide.
