The victims comprised three men, three women and a two-year-old girl, all from Indonesia.

A local man in his 30s, believed to be the mastermind in smuggling in the migrants, was also detained in the 9.30pm operation.

Sabah Marine Police (Region 4) commander ACP Mohamad Pajeri Ali, the operation was successfully carried out following our intelligence findings and public tip-off.

He said the victims were meant to be sent to Kota Kinabalu and forced to work in various sectors.

The case is being investigated under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Human Trafficking and Smuggling of Migrant Activity Act (Atipsom) 2007 (Amendment 2010).
