KUCHING, March 8 (Bernama) -- Sarawak Energy will test its upgraded flood warning stations in the vicinity of its Batang Ai Hydroelectric Powerplant (HEP) reservoir located in Lubok Antu, Engkilili, and SK Ng Delok.
The state-owned energy developer and power utility operator said residents in the area were advised that the timing of the testing and commissioning of the warning systems to be conducted tomorrow were dependent on the situation at the sites. It will also be carried out on March 12 and 13.
An outreach session was recently held with the community leaders and relevant government agencies in Lubok Antu to communicate the schedule for the testing and commissioning of the warning systems.
“Tomorrow (March 9), the Lubok Antu flood warning station is expected to commence its testing at 9 am with a warning tone that includes both intermittent and continuous tones for around 10 minutes.
“The testing schedule for the Engkilili flood warning station is expected to begin at 2 pm for 10 minutes, with a similar warning tone to the Lubok Antu flood warning station," it said in a statement here today.
The warning tones can be heard more than 1.3km from each respective stations.
Sarawak Energy said this would be replicated at the same time on Tuesday for the Lubok Antu and Engkilili flood warning stations and for the SK Nanga Delok flood warning station at 10.30 am on Wednesday.
