Sabah wants education hub in Papar

PAPAR, March 15 (Bernama) -- Sabah's Education and Innovation Ministry has been ordered to identify the best measures to ensure the government's desire to make Papar as an education hub in the state, says Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.

He said the matter should take into consideration the efforts to realise the objective to focus on skill development such as vocational colleges.

“This is to enable the government provide more skill training to our youths in Sabah. Education based on skills should be coordinated with the needs of the industry.

"We should coordinate the types of training needed to equip our youths meet the needs of the industries through Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and other training centres.

"We have to produce skilled and knowledgeable people so that they can obtain employment with good wages,” he said when met after a Session with the Chief Minister in Kampung Kuala here today.
