Aidil happy Kedah bounces back to defeat Melaka

Last Update: 19/05/2019

ALOR SETAR, May 19 (Bernama) -- Kedah’s ability to recover after the half-time break was a big relief for its head coach Aidil Sharin Sahak in the Super League match against Melaka United at the Darul Aman Stadium here last night after losing to Selangor in the previous match.

Aidil said the victory against Melaka was important to boost the team spirit and morals to meet JDT at the end of this month.

“Thank God we achieved the desired result as soon as the players picked themselves up to correct the mistakes in the second half.

“It was the result of all players’ determination and hard work after the squad captain Baddrol Bakhtiar motivated his teammates,” he told reporters after the match.

Aidil said he was satisfied with the performance of the players although in the first half of the game Kedah team seemed to be slightly in disarray and difficult to score goal.

"Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), senior players continued to motivate young players and didn’t put any pressure on them except to overcome mistakes quickly and win the game,” he said.

Aidil said the team would prepare the best they could before meeting JDT.

Meanwhile, Melaka head coach Zainal Abidin Hassan said two mistakes made by the team saw the team failed to earn three points in Alor Setar.

He said the result was a bit disappointing as Melaka was leading the game with early goal and he hoped the players would not make the same mistake when meeting Perak later.

In the last night’s game, Kedah regained the victory after taking advantage of playing at home turf by defeating Melaka 2-1.
