Lorry driver burnt to death in collision

KUANTAN, May 19 (Bernama) --  The driver of an Isuzu lorry was burnt to death when the vehicle burst into flames upon collision with a trailer lorry at the 18km Jalan Lipis-Merapoh-Gua Musang near Selendang in Lipis today. 

Lipis Police chief Supt Azli Mohd Noor the deceased's identity and sex could not be ascertained as the body was charred beyond recognition in the 3.30 pm crash.

He said the trailer lorry driver Mohamad Tarmizi Che Mahmud, 28, escaped unhurt.

"The incident is believed to have occurred when the Isuzu lorry skidded and veered into the opposite direction and collided with the trailer which was travelling from Lipis to Gua Musang.

"The impact of the crash caused the lorry to overturn and catch fire," he said in a statement here.

He said the body was sent to the Kuala Lipis Hospital.
