Sabah Police fete over 80 tithe recipients at Iftar event

KOTA KINABALU, May 20 (Bernama) — A total of 88 tithe recipients comprising orphans, widows and Muslim converts from the police community were feted at the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters Iftar (break of fast) event, here today. 

The event, held at the Nur Islam mosque at the Contingent grounds, was graced by the presence of Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and his wife Toh Puan Norlidah R.M Jasni.

Also present were Sabah Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Jaujan Sambakong, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah and wife Datin Diana Lee Dennis @ Abdullah and State Secretary Datuk Hashim Paijan.

At the event, Tun Juhar and Toh Puan Norlidah presented tithes from the Sabah Tithe Centre and the Federal Territory Religious Council to the recipients, who also received a 10 kilogramme bag of rice each courtesy of the state branch of Padiberas Nasional Bhd. 

After the break of fast, guests were presented with a Quran recital and a brief sermon by Sabah Mufti Datuk Bungsu Aziz Jaafar, afterwhich they performed the Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.
