JOHOR BAHRU, May 27 (Bernama) -- The National Entrepreneur Group Economic Fund’s (Tekun Nasional) newly-formed Development Unit will conduct entrepreneurial training programmes in the second quarter of this year.
Its deputy chairman, Najwah Halimah Ab Alim said the programme focuses on product packaging, financial management, labelling and marketing.
"The goal is to equip the entrepreneurs with these knowledge, as some businesses failed due to lack of knowledge among business owners.
“So, we take the initiative to help them become competitive not only domestically but also globally. We want our entrepreneurs, especially the Malays to go far," she told reporters after the presentation of Aidilfitri aid for the Pulai Parliamentary Constituency at the Mydin Mutiara Rini Mall here, today.
Najwah Halimah said the programme is also part of efforts to rebrand Tekun as an agency providing not only micro-financing but also training for entrepreneurs.
Tekun, which was set up in 1989, provides funding of between RM400 million and RM500 million a year for 30,000 entrepreneurs nationwide, she said, adding that of the amount, about RM60 million is channelled to Johor to provide loans to 3,000 to 4,000 entrepreneurs.
Najwah Halimah said Tekun Nasional is also identifying asnaf (deserving recipients of zakat) who are keen to venture into business.
Present were the wife of Johor Menteri Besar, Datin Dr Nila Armila Mukdan, Tekun Johor manager Zainal Rahmat and Mydin Mutiara Rini Mall branch manager Kaalidass Ragu.
