Ops Selamat: 11 crash hotspots identified in Sabah

KOTA KINABALU, May 28 (Bernama) -- The Sabah police have identified 11 crash hotspots in the state where the ‘Ops Selamat 2019’ traffic operation will be carried out during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri festive period from tomorrow until June 12.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Omar Mammah said the move was to reduce the number of crashes and to ensure smooth traffic over 333.6 kilometres of federal roads across Sabah.

"Ops Selamat is aimed at ensuring all road users reach their destinations safely. In addition, Ops Selamat also emphasises on the safety of properties or houses that will remain vacant during the festive period," he said when launching the operation for the Sabah police contingent here today.

Omar also reminded all road users to drive within the speed limit, not to use the mobile phone while driving, and stop to get some rest when tired.
