Indonesian man, stepdaughter die in Kota Tinggi

JOHOR BAHRU, May 28 (Bernama) -- An Indonesian man and his stepdaughter died when the car they were travelling in collided with a lorry at Jalan Mawai Batu 6, near Kota Tinggi, this evening.

Johor Jaya Fire and Rescue Station Operations Officer PBK II Mohd Rafi Mohd Nor said at about 6.14 pm, the victim known as Ruslan, 35,  was driving a Toyota Corona car which collided with a Scania lorry.

“There were five victims in the car and one in the lorry. The lorry driver suffered minor cuts while the car driver was sandwiched and confirmed dead at the location,” he said in a statement here today.

Firemen took seven minutes to extricate the body of the sandwiched victim.

Ruslan’s wife Norhamidah Abd Razak, 33; his stepdaughters Puteri Aliya Shafiqah Mohd Sukri, 12, and Puteri Aliya Soffieya Mohd Sukri, 8, as well as his daughter Puteri Arnita Ruslan, 2, were taken to the Kota Tinggi Hospital.

However, Puteri Aliya Soffieya was later confirmed dead.
