No record of traders breaching maximum price control scheme in Sarawak - Chong

Last Update: 04/06/2019

KUCHING, June 4 (Bernama) - There was no violation of the 2019 Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme recorded in Sarawak, since it was launched on May 21.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Chong Chieng Jen, said the authorities had been continuously monitoring all supermarkets and wet markets until yesterday and found that there were no traders selling above the fixed price.

"So far I am satisfied because all traders here complied with the set market price, in fact, some traders were selling at much cheaper prices.

"Based on our monitoring, we have not received any complaints from consumers and I believe that everything is under control," he said after witnessing motorcyclists getting free petrol refill at Batu 8 ½ Petronas Station, Jalan Kuching-Serian here today.

Chong said the RM5 free petrol maybe not be much but it is handy to the B40 income group especially during the Gawai Dayak and Aidilfitri celebrations.

"We want to bring them some cheer during the festive season,” he added.
