KANGAR, June 4 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has become the second public university in the country to appoint two members of the Student Representative Council (MPP) as members of the university’s senate.
UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Dr R. Badlishah Ahmad in a statement today said it is hoped the appointment of MPP representatives would benefit students in voicing views and constructive criticism to raise UniMAP’s credibility and not just as silent members.
“UniMAP wants MPP representatives to be effective members in the effort to create a more transparent senate especially on student issues such as university academics, research and development,” he said.
Badlishah said the decision to appoint MPP representatives was reached at UniMAP’s exco meeting chaired by him here today.
The representatives appointed for a one-year term are MPP president Muhammad Amir Harith Abdul Jalil and his deputy Nazifa Nordin.
