Policeman dies after performing Maghrib prayer

ALOR SETAR, June 10 (Bernama) -- A policeman with the rank of sub-inspector died after performing his Maghrib prayer at Al-Wajdi Mosque in Bukit Selambau, near Kuala Muda last night.

The policeman's daughter, Siti Nuraida, 32, said her father Fadzil Ahmad, 60, took his last breath after suddenly collapsing at about 7.45 pm.

She said her father had stopped at the mosque to pray and while on the way home at the Sik police quarters after returning from celebrating Hari Raya in their village in Tasek Gelugor, Penang.

“My father had attended the wedding feast of my youngest brother, Muhammad Syafiq, 20, in Sungai Petani and had complained of chest pains and breathlessness after coming back from the feast, even though he appeared well,” she was when contacted by Bernama here today.

The remains of Fadzil Ahmad were laid to rest at Jamek Mosque cemetery in Kampung Tok Bedu, Tasek Gelugor, Penang at 11.30 am this morning.
