Taiping Hospital to continue Aidilfitri goodwill programme for poor ex-patients

Last Update: 10/06/2019

TAIPING, June 10 (Bernama) -- The Taiping Hospital will continue its programme of goodwill visits and provision of aid to poor ex-patients of the hospital at every Aidilfitri celebration, said its director, Dr Narimah Yusof.

She said the move was a corporate social responsibility (CSR) effort of the hospital aimed at easing the burden of these patients and bringing cheer to them.

“Through this programme, we will make food and cash contributions to the patients who have been discharged or are undergoing follow-up treatment at the specialist clinics of the hospital,” she said in a statement here today.

Dr Narimah said that this year, 20 patients from Taiping, Kuala Kurau, Bagan Serai and Kuala Kangsar were selected as the recipients of the aid from the hospital staff, Malaysian Medical Welfare Fund and NGOs.

She said some of the patients were dealing with psycho-social problems that affected their social functions.

“Their compromised social functions prevent them from being independent as well as working and earning money to buy food and daily necessities,” she said.
