Farm worker slashed for allegedly stealing durians

KUANTAN, June 19  (Bernama) -- An Indonesian farm worker was slashed on the head with a machete by a man who accused him of stealing durians in Felda Tembangau 2, Bera, near here, yesterday.

Bera district police chief DSP Mansor Samsudin said the 35-year-old victim claimed the incident occurred at 5 pm when he was on his way to the farm.

“The victim alleged that the assailant held his motorcycle and began to scold him, accusing him of stealing the latter’s durians in the oil palm plantation,” he said when contacted here today.

Although the farm worker denied the allegation, the man struck his head with the back of a 40 cm machete, he said.

Mansor said the victim fled to a nearby clinic where he received six stitches for the injury.

Police are looking for the assailant, believed to be a local in his 30s, who did not return to his house after the incident.
