Last Update: 19/06/2019

GEORGE TOWN, June 19 (Bernama) -- The Penang Department of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating an accident at a food processing plant in Nibong Tebal after a worker died last Monday.

It said in a statement today that the accident happened at 9 am when the worker, a Bangladeshi national,  was taking measurements to change a chimney at the plant.

“The victim was rushed to the Penang Hospital and was confirmed dead at 2 pm,” it said.

The department said an investigation team was sent to the plant yesterday after being notified by the police to conduct a probe on the cause of the accident.

It has issued a notice to the plant management to undertake improvements immediately to ensure there is no recurrence of such accidents.
