Lucky escape for toll booth operator as trailer crashes into toll booth

MELAKA, June 21 (Bernama) -- A toll booth operator miraculously escaped with only minor injuries when the booth she was in was hit by a 28-tonne trailer at the Ayer Keroh Toll Plaza here today.
Melaka Traffic Enforcement and Investigation chief Supt Hasan Basri Yahya said the incident occurred at 12.40 pm when the trailer that was was laden with oil palm bunches from Tangkak, Johor, crashed into the toll booth.
He said after paying the toll, the 49-year-old driver tried to continue his journey, but part of the trailer hit the last toll booth, causing it to collapse and hitting the victim who was on duty.
"The 48-year-old woman escaped with minor injuries at the waist and was taken by a passing motorist to the Malacca Hospital," he told reporters when contacted today.
He said there were no other vehicles involved and the trailer driver did not sustain injuries.
