Last Update: 27/06/2019

LANGKAWI, June 26 (Bernama) - The Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS) seized 12 gift boxes in various sizes made of bamboo that were brought in without any valid documents at Langkawi International Airport yesterday.

Kedah MAQIS director Lily Rosalind said the bamboo products from Indonesia were seized with the cooperation of the airport’s Cargo Unit and Royal Malaysian Customs Department.

"An inspection on 70 gift boxes found that 12 had no valid documents such as Import Permit from MAQIS and Phytosanitary Certificate from the country of origin.

"The gift boxes worth RM7,812 were confiscated," she said in a statement here today.
