Manjung APM officer bitten by cobra

LUMUT, July 4 (Bernama) -- A Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) officer was injured after a snake bit him while he was asleep in his office at Jalan Tok Perdana in Sitiawan here early this morning.

The Manjung district APM officer Nasarudin Abu Bakar who was awoken by a searing pain in the 3.30am incident was rushed to the Seri Manjung Hospital for further treatment.

APM Disaster Operations Officer Shamsur Shahuddin said when the victim woke up he realised a snake had bitten him on his left hand.

“The snake is believed to have found its way into the office through the toilet pipes," he said when contacted here today.

“Nasarudin is in stable condition,” he said adding APM personnel managed to capture the 0.6 metre long cobra.
