MFMP seek sponsorship from ministry and corporate sector

Last Update: 04/07/2019

KOTA BHARU, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Professional Muai Thai Federation (MFMP) seek the co-operation of the private sector and the Youth and Sports Ministry to obtain funds to enable it to send athletes to international championships to represent the country.

Its president Datuk Seri Dr. Mohd Fared Abdul Ghani said that financial constraints and lack of sponsorships scuppered plans to send two athletes to the World Muai Thai Heritage Championship in Greece on July 1 until yesterday.

‘’The two athletes are SEA Games gold medal winner, Ain Kamaruddin and the country's best boxer, Muhammad Amirul Aiman Zaidi, who are prepared to take the country's name to the championship.

"Both the athletes and the body are keen to prove something at the international championship but we are forced to be empty handed," he told Bernama here today.

Mohd Fared said that he hoped corporate companies and the ministry would come forward to help the association get fundings to allow Muai Thai athletes to be sent to international championships after this.
