GEORGE TOWN, July 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s first hospitality exposition, known as World Hospitality, Lifestyle and Entertainment (WHOLE) Exhibition and Conference will take place in SPICE Arena and Convention Centre, Penang between Sept 10 and 12 next year.
The three-day hospitality expo was organised by Alpine Group Services with the collaboration of the Penang government, State Exco Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage (PETACH) committee, chairman Yeoh Soon Hin said today
He said that around 350 exhibitors from 30 countries and 10,000 business people were expected to attend the WHOLE 2020
“WHOLE 2020 will also be a platform to draw in foreign investors as the organiser is targeting 30 percent of the exhibition of international companies and 70 percent from the domestic market,” he told the reporters here after the soft launch of the event.
He said that the expo was also in line with both state and Federal Government’s 2020 initiatives in achieving 30 million tourists and spending of RM100 billion in foreign receipts.
Meanwhile, Alpine Integrated Solutions chairman Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim said Penang was selected to hold the WHOLE 2020 as it has been a hospitality centre and tourism hub for the country.
“Even as the second smallest state in Malaysia, Penang has also developed its business-tourism sector over the years and it is the top second-tier destination for the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) industry,” he said.
He added that they planned to make the expo a biennial event.
