Two missing fishermen found safe

PASIR PUTIH,  July 16 (Bernama) -- Two fishermen who were reported missing in the waters off Tumpat after they went fishing from Pengkalan Ketil, Tumpat yesterday morning were found safe by several fishermen this morning.

Acting director of the Kelantan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA), maritime commander Ismail Hamzah said the two victims were known as Mohamad Aminuddin Mohd Noor, 30, and Nik Zulkifli Nik Abdul Rahman, 28.

He said during the incident, the victims’ boat had engine failure at five nautical miles from Pengkalan Kubor, resulting in them not being able to go home.

“This morning, a fishing boat which had gone out fishing found their boat before towing them back to the Marine Police jetty at Pengkalan Kubor Region Three.

“A maritime boat had been sent out to look for the victims’ boat at 9.45 a.m.,” he said in a press statement this afternoon.

The missing victims was reported by Mohamad Aminuddin’s elder brother, Mohd Zaidi, at 8.45 a.m. today when he became worried that they had not returned home yesterday evening.
