Last Update: 16/07/2019

GEORGE TOWN, July 16 (Bernama) -- A quick action by a motorist saved a paralysed woman from a fire at her house in Lorong Lembah Permai, Tanjung Bungah here today.

In the incident at 11.50 am, the man was passing through the area when he saw smoke and fire at the upper floor of the two-storey semi-detached house.

He stopped his car before entering the house and rescued the victim who was screaming for help.

During the incident, the 60-year-old woman was alone in the house as her other family members went to the hospital to visit her sick husband, said Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue station chief Ridzuan Ramli.

"The woman was not hurt but still in shock. The fire was put out at about 1 pm,” he told reporters.
