Dad laments losing daughter because of rickety suspension bridge

KINABATANGAN, July 24 (Bernama) -- A girl drowned after falling from a “rickety” suspension bridge at a village in  Tongod near here around noon yesterday.

According to her father, Juilan Razali, 31, the incident happened when his daughter Angelliena , six, was returning  home from her kindergarten.

“She was using the bridge  to cross the river in Kampung Porotawoi when she fell through a hole in it. Witnesses said she was swept away by the fast flowing river and her body was recovered by villagers who had tried to rescue her 45 minutes later about seven metres from where she fell,” he told Bernama.

When contacted, Kinabatangan police chief Supt Dzulbaharin Ismail declined to comment on the incident.
