Last Update: 28/07/2019

IPOH, July 28 (Bernama) -- An E-Sport FIFA 19 competition involving 40 participants was featured at the Kembara Digital Malaysia 2019 carnival at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah in Meru here.

The two-day competition, which began yesterday, was organised by the Wack Station Gaming Centre in cooperation with the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.

Wack Station Gaming Centre founder Noor Akmal Noor Azman, 30, told Bernama today the competition had drawn contestants between the ages of 25 and 30, with only two of the 40 participants making it to the final round.

The competition offered cash prizes of RM1,000 for the winner, RM800 (runner-up), RM500 (third place) and RM350 (fourth place).

The digital carnival was organised for the first time by the ministry in conjunction with World Telecommunications and Information Society Day.

It was officiated by state Communications, Multimedia, NGOs and Information Committee  chairman Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim and attended by Communications and Multimedia Minister Gobind Singh Deo yesterday.

Featuring 50 exhibitors including broadband service providers and hardware and software distributors, as well as government agencies, the event attracted visitors such as Fariza Md Talib, 41, a clerk in the private sector who brought along her children, nephews and nieces to enjoy family-oriented games such as the ‘beyblade’, akin to a modern spinning top.

Assistant librarian Nurul Latifah Mohd Nor, 35, was there with her husband to apply for digital television services which were offered free, as part of a package meant only for selected recipients of the government’s Bantuan Sara Hidup cash aid scheme.
