KANGAR, July 31 (Bernama) -- The Perlis Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (PDTCAM) have appealed to the public to channel information on the sale of ‘ghost smoke’ candy as they have failed to find any after inspecting commercial outlets.
Its chief enforcement officer Mohamad Amir Abdullah said that the department had inspected 125 wholesale and retail premises from July 23 to Tuesday but did not come across any.
‘’Nevertheless, we will continue to conduct inspections and hope traders won’t sell the candy which is considered dangerous especially to school pupils who have taken to it. Those selling it can be acted against under the Trade Description Act 2011,’’ he said in a statement to the media here today.
Mohd Amir said that information could be channelled by contacting PDTCAM at 04-979500.
The sale of ghost smoke piqued public attention after a video viraled on social media recently showing pupils sucking on the candy which emitted smoke like a cigarette.
